MSI introduces GX780 gaming notebook with SteelSeries keyboard…

MSI has unleashed a stunning gaming laptop featuring Intel’s 2nd generation Sandy Bridge processor. Named as GX780, this notebook boasts latest nVidia discrete graphics card as well as Dynaudio sound. The most notable thing is its special gaming keyboard which is made by SteelSeries, professional gaming equipment manufacturer. The 17.3-inch GX780 featuring a custom SteelSeries keyboard as stated above has 30-color LED backlit keyboard, designed in partnership with SteelSeries, is one of the most striking laptop keyboards to date. Measuring 428 x 288 x 55mm, MSI GX780 weighs 3.9kg. It is full HD (1920×1080) or HD+ (1600×900). Equipped with rugged, 30-color LED backlit keyboard, the notebook also comprises Gigabit Ethernet, 802.11 b/g/n WiFi, and Bluetooth 2.1. There is also a multi-card reader, and option for Blu-ray / DVD Super Multi Drive.

MSI releases Core i3-based CX640, CR640 laptops…

MSI CX640 and CR640 Laptops
MSI has been quite active since the beginning of the year so we are not very surprised to discover the company rolling out the new laptop models named CX640 and CR640, running on Intel Core i3-2310M processors, both notebooks sport 15.6-inch displays, 4GB of RAM, 500GB hard drives and a pair of USB 3.0 ports each. Those hard drives are supposed to be extra-protected from drops and shocks as the disk is in the middle of the chassis and housed inside a unique casing.
MSI also assures that these C Series notebooks will boot up twice faster than standard notebooks. Presumably, MSI means notebooks in the same class. With these specifications, the CX640 and CR640 are nice, but not that far off from standard.

The major difference between these two portable machines is that the silvery CX640 hosts NVIDIA GeForce GT 520M graphics with Optimus technology, and the black CR640 uses Intel HD 3000 graphics.

Dell triggers Inspiron M102z with AMD fusion

Dell has launched the M102z laptop with a choice of an AMC C-50 or AMD E-350 dual core processor. Dell Inspiron M100 series appears to be saved for its AMD notebook forays. It already sells the Inspiron M101z with an Athlon II processor, and now it appears to be adding its first AMD Fusion portable in the form of the M102z.

The M102z has an 11.6 inch display with 1366 x 768 pixel resolution. It features 2GB of RAM, a 6 cell battery, and runs Windows 7 Home Premium. It has 802.11b/g/n WiFi and an HDMI output and weighs about 3.4 pounds. It features a choice of Radeon HD 6250 or Radeon HD 6310 graphics.
While it won’t necessarily provide the same performance as an Intel Core i3 mobile processor, the E-350 has garnered high marks in other systems as an alternative to an Intel Atom-based netbook. Dell’s entry confirms that AMD has a successful mobile offering right out of the gate with Fusion, as we await more powerful laptop processors using the new platform.

HP unleashes new laptop lineup

HP‘s new lineup is very interesting. The company has introduced a new “g series” which sits between the Compaq and more expensive Pavilion models in terms of price and features.
HP Pavilion g6 Series Laptop
Impressively the Pavilion G series laptops starts at $599 with Intel’s new Sandy Bridge platform. There are two sizes a g4 and g6, at 14in and 15.6in. At more than 2Kg it’s not a particularly light machine, but as far as value for money goes, this will be a machine to look out for.

Also starting at $599 is HP’s tiny DM1, an 11.6in machine powered by AMD’s Fusion platform. As we’ve noted before, Fusion machines are a great alternative to Atom netbooks. If you’re willing to spend more, you should see better performance for things like HD video playback.
Stepping up to the mid range, and they have HP’s dv4, dv6 and dv7 – all with the new Sandy Bridge Intel platform. The dv4 and dv6 start at $999 and include Beats audio, which when enabled adds punch to music playback.
The dv6 has a trick up its sleeve – “Coolsense” technology detects whether the laptop is sitting on a desk or on your lap and adjusts cooling so in theory, your lap doesn’t get too hot.
