Acer had announced their new “smartphone” of the Iconia Series namely Acer Iconia Smart at Mobile World Congress 2011 in Barcelona. The new Acer Iconia Smart is basically a huge 4.8-inch 1024×480 capacitive multi-touch screen Smart-Phone running the latest Android OS v2.3. It is one of the largest display screened Smartphone.
There was little confusion that Iconia will 100 percent Tablet or 100 percent Smartphone. But the Acer is calling it Smartphone + Tablet. Acer Liquid is one of the least expensive high-end smartphones in the market and boasts of a redesigned UI and a bunch of exclusive applications. This new Acer smartphone, is also known as Acer Liquid mt internationally.
Acer Liquid Metal sports a 3.6-inch LCD capacitive touchscreen with 480×800 pixel resolution, it runs on Google Android 2.2 Froyo operating system and powered with 800 MHz Scorpion processor, boasts Adreno 205 GPU and Qualcomm MSM 7230 chipset.

The Acer Liquid Metal may not have a 1GHz processor like its competition (it has to do with an 800MHz Qualcomm processor) but its specifications are not less than impressive. Graphics are taken care of by a dedicated Adreno 205 GPU and it has 512MB of RAM. The Acer has a 5MP camera with an LED flash to take photos and can also record 720p videos @ 30fps. It runs on Android 2.2 (Froyo).
The Liquid Metal’s display is a 3.6-inch TFT capacitive touchscreen with a resolution of 480×800 and 16M color output. It also supports Wi-Fi, GPS and 3G. It has a sufficiently large screen that looks quite good in spite of neither being AMOLED nor SLCD. Unfortunately, the screen’s visibility does go down considerably under direct sunlight. The Acer just three regular homescreens, only one of which can be customized with shortcuts, of the remaining two you can browse through your multimedia files on one while the other one hosts screenshots of the last accessed apps/menus and allows you to access them with one touch.
The Liquid in fact works reasonably well but there is some sluggishness in the way it responds to touch input. The virtual keyboard is also accurate most of the time although if you’re used to bigger screens, typing on the 3.6-inch screen in portrait mode may feel a little uncomfortable.

Li ho..! to the new Packard Bell Liberty Tablet . Packard Bell Liberty Tab looks familiar, that’s because it appears to be a rebranded version of the Acer Iconia Tab A500. The Liberty Tab, offers a 10.1” Nvidia Tegra 2 tablet packs Honeycomb and specs on par with the other upcoming Honeycomb tablets including dual cameras, Tegra 2 dual-core processor, HDMI output, and a multi-touch screen.
The tablet has a front-facing 2MP camera and a 5MP camera on the back. The Packard Bell Liberty Tab also has Dolby Mobile audio with built-in stereo speakers. Acer to Lunch 3 New Tablets

Acer is set to launch three tablet PC models featuring Android 3.0 in the first quarter of 2011. The respective models will feature a 7, 10, and 5-inch panel, with the 5-inch panel based device targeted at the market between smartphones and mainstream tablet PCs, according to sources from upstream component makers.

Acer is currently still evaluating between Qualcomm’s Snapdragon and Nvidia’s Tegra 2 processor for adopting into its Android tablet PC. Before the Android models are released though, Acer will launch an x86 model using an Intel processor and Windows 7 to test the water in the market. The model is manufactured by Compal and the shipment volume is expected to be small. Acer’s 5-inch tablet PC is designed to allow consumers to utilize both handset and tablet PC functionality.
