Sony announces S1 & S2 dual screened Android tablets…
Apr 26th
Sony has just announced a pair of Honeycomb tablets in a press event in Tokyo, called the S1 and the S2, both of which are still codenames according to Sony. It has made its 9.4-inch Sony S1 and 5.5-inch dual-screened S2 Honeycomb tablets official with a press event in Tokyo recently. We’ve been hearing about these since mid-February, and recently the Japanese paper Nikkei has said Sony has plans to enter the U.S. market before the end of Summer 2011.
The S1 is a 9.4-inch tablet with an off-center of gravity design that supposedly makes it easier to grip and more comfortable to hold. Kunimasa Suzuki, Deputy President of Sony’s consumer products and services group likens it to holding a magazine. The S2 is a 5.5-inch dual-screened tablet that has the ability to use the screens as one large canvas, or feature specially coded applications running in each independently.
Both the S1 and S2 house Nvidia Tegra 2 processors, and the ability to integrate with other Sony products. And they both sport the Playstation Suite, like the new Xperia Play smartphone. An example was given where the S1 can act as a remote for Bravia marked equipment. Both the S1 and S2 will be available globally this fall.

Hauppauge PCTV Broadway 2T wireless TV transmission to iPad, iPhone, Mac and PC…
Apr 14th
Access your favourite TV shows LIVE through your iPhone and iPad, from anywhere in the world, this is what we can say it in the short about the “Hauppauge PCTV Broadway 2T device”. The Broadway 2T is basically a standalone device which connects to your wired or wireless network (WIFI). The Broadway is 802.11n wireless and contains dual DVB-T tuners to enable streaming of a TV signal to a host device either over a home network or the internet, and hence to any corner in the world. The 2T also has USB and video inputs so you can stream video from a USB device or set top box not to mention connecting an analog camera to create a remote home surveillance solution system viewable on an iPad or iPhone.
The Broadway 2T allows you to redirect your home TV and personal video content to your iPhone, iPad, netbook, notebook or Mac computer anywhere in the world. When mobile, your TV and content is accessed via your web browser. No third party apps or additional purchases are needed.
Just how the media measurement companies intend to deal with devices such as the Broadway 2T will be interesting to watch. Expats the world over might be watching local television in their home country on their internet devices in foreign countries, but their patronage will be irrelevant to most of the advertisers who are paying for that audience. It’s not a problem yet, but it looks like becoming that way quite soon as media footprints lose their definition.
When mobile, your TV and content is accessed via your web browser. The 2T will also enable remote control of home content such as scheduling recordings and playing pre-recorded content. The Broadway 2T utilises 802.11n wireless as stated above and its sophisticated MPEG-4 H.264 hardware compression codec ensure minimal demand on mobile device battery life.
Bridging the Gap between TV and the Internet
1. Connect wirelessly.
2. Send Live-TV or video signal feeds via internet to host device.
3. Sophisticated MPEG-4 H.264 hardware compression.
4. Integrated 802.11n WLAN for wireless streaming of television signals to host device.
5. No additional software (applications) required – including iPod and iPad.
6. Control your home content; schedule recordings, play pre-recorded content.
7. Audio/Video input to turn iPad or iPhone into remote surveillance solution by connecting analog camera.
8. Android Smart Phones and Tablet support in Q2 2011.

HTC Sensation 4G takes HTC flagship mantle….
Apr 13th
HTC has announced its new flagship smartphone, the HTC Sensation which is Powered by a 1.2 GHz MSM8660 dual core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor and running Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) the HTC Sensation is designed with multimedia in mind. The Sense 3.0, front-facing VGA camera, and 4G capabilities, the Sensation shares most of the features from the EVO 3D, just subtract the 3D from that.
Tapping into HTC’s trademark design language, the HTC Sensation’s premium look and feel is enhanced by its rounded edges, aluminum unibody construction and the touch screen surface is protected by a contoured screen that feels more natural as a finger is glided across it. The 4.3″ qHD (960 x 540) display delivers high-resolution widescreen viewing and gives the HTC Sensation slender proportions that feel natural in a person’s hand. At the heart of the HTC Sensation beats a powerful, 1.2 gigahertz dual core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, which enables gorgeous graphics and all-around fast performance.
A higher resolution 8-megapixel rear facing autofocus camera that can shoot 1080p video at 30fps. Captured video can also be trimmed on the phone itself before uploading. For downloading videos, the Sensation’s HSPA+ capabilities promise speed up to 14.4 Mbps, and a new HTC Watch video download service, that will also be found on the company’s upcoming Flyer tablet, makes its first appearance in a phone.
The Sensation comes with 768 MB of RAM and 1GB of internal memory, but HTC has thrown in an 8GB microSD card to help with all that video your service provider hopes you’ll be downloading on the device. The phone weighs 148 g (5.2 oz.) and at 11.3 mm (0.44 inches) thick, comes in slightly thicker than the iPhone 4. However, the Sensation’s 4.3-inch widescreen display is almost an inch bigger than the 3.5-inch display of Apple‘s device.
Features include a customizable active lock screen that constantly updates social media, photos, weather or stock updates, which can then be viewed by waking the display. The lock screen also serves as the launchpad for jumping to the phone’s most-used features. For example, the camera can be launched right from the lock screen in a single motion to give users the best possible chance of capturing the action.
HTC Sense also makes it easy to have fun by enabling people to capture and share special moments. The HTC Sensation’s 8-megapixel camera doesn’t just shoot gorgeous photos but, with the new instant capture feature, lets people capture the moments they want without worrying about missing or keeping up with the action. The HTC Sensation also shoots full HD video in 1080p resolution as said earlier, with full stereo sound, at up to 30 frames a second, giving you smooth video that is better than many other phones. With the new Video Trimmer tool, people can crop their clips to the perfect size for easy sharing with friends and family.

Nokia X7 smartphone with updated Symbian Software…
Apr 13th
With 2 new smartphones from Nokia, it is showing no immediate signs of letting up on its Symbian operating system.
The E6 and the X7, both announced today, will be the first smartphones to ship with Symbian Anna, the latest update to the mobile operating system, which is used primarily by Nokia. Earlier this year, however, Nokia signed a deal with Microsoft that will make Windows Phone 7 the principal operating system on its smartphones, with the shift the Microsoft OS starting as early as next year.

“With these new products and more Symbian devices and user enhancements coming in the near future, we are confident we can keep existing Nokia smartphone customers engaged, as well as attract new first-time and competitor smartphone users,” Jo Harlow, head of Nokia’s Smart Devices business, said in a statement today.
